Overview

RESTORAN AYAM GENYIT, nestled in the heart of Johor’s Taman Anggerik Emas, offers a compelling taste of Malaysian-Indonesian fusion, skillfully balancing familiarity with vibrant flavors. This cozy eatery specializes in dishes that showcase the rich, spicy heritage of regional cuisine, attracting both locals and visitors eager to experience authentic tastes delivered with warm hospitality.

The menu highlights stand out with an array of well-curated options. The "Couple Set Ayam Ikan" presents a harmonious pairing of tender fried chicken and fresh ikan bawal, both expertly coated in a crispy batter that fans of traditional Indonesian-style frying will appreciate. Alongside, the Rusuk Bakar features succulent grilled ribs, tender and charred just right, providing a smoky depth that complements the meal well.

Vegetable sides like Terung Goreng bring a rustic, satisfying crunch, while Ayam Siram Cabei introduces a bold chili punch that ignites the palate with authentic heat. The Bawal Genyit, a signature fish dish, captures the essence of coastal Malaysian cooking—light, fragrant, and vibrant. Accompaniments such as Nasi Ayam Genyit, infused with the subtle acidity of asam boi apple juice, create a refreshing counterpoint to the rich spices.

Drinks play an important supporting role here, with the Milk Tea Thai Iced Tea providing creamy sweetness that balances out the spiciness of the mains. The distinctive Kopok and Tempe Hitam Gosong Banget Masaknya show respect for traditional flavors, with tempeh cooked to a deliberate crispness, adding variety in texture and taste.

Customer feedback highlights the restaurant's strengths and areas for growth. Many praise the speed and friendliness of the service, reflecting a seamless dining experience. The sambal belacan emerges as a crowd favorite, celebrated for its authentic kick, though some reviews suggest room for refinement in the chili sauces to better balance heat and flavor. The overall impression is one of a passionate kitchen that understands local spices deeply, with dishes executed thoughtfully to suit a broad audience—from spice lovers seeking the familiar burn of authentic sambal, to diners looking for comforting home-style cooking with a twist.

Located conveniently on Jln Anggerik Emas 1, the restaurant offers a modest, inviting space that welcomes casual groups, families, and couples alike. The emphasis on hearty, bold-flavored dishes makes it particularly appealing to those who enjoy Malaysian and Indonesian culinary traditions infused with a contemporary edge. Whether looking for a quick lunch or a flavorful dinner, RESTORAN AYAM GENYIT delivers a memorable experience anchored by well-prepared signature dishes and a sincere commitment to customer satisfaction.

I will be honest: the portion is big and I don’t know what magic they put but the batter/ flour they use to fry the chicken and fish taste soooooo good! The fried tempe is also so good, how is it so good?? My only feedback is if they can work on their sambal because the red sambal can still be spicier hehe I hope I can order on Grab too!

First time but surely will repeat it again! 1) FOOD The highlighted dish, of course is the Iga (daging rusuk) Bakar. RM39.90 for a plate with 3 Iga seems worth it for me. The meat is so juicy, tender and well-marinated. The sauce is surprisingly chef kissed, imo!We also had keropok lekor (4/5), dish with bawal goreng (3.8/5) and a just nice sambal ijo and sambal cili. Main dishes are available in single plating or family plating (in tray). 2) SERVICE Fast as lightening. Maybe depends on the crowd too. We went there on Friday night (2000H-2100H). It was only 2-3 families. 3) PARKING It is a public parking.
